Turn Data into Action

ICLEI USA’s industry-leading tools have helped over 600 governments and institutions measure and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for climate impacts, prioritize actions, and collaborate in real-time.

In Spring 2025, we’ll launch the revamped ClearPath 2.0 platform, powered by ClimateView. This next-generation tool combines ICLEI USA’s decades of experience with ClimateView’s cutting-edge technology to help U.S. subnational governments make data-driven decisions, engage stakeholders, and drive transparent climate action.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Our Approach: The 5 Pathways

The pathways are a framework for designing integrated solutions that balance the patterns of human life and the built and natural environments.

Testimonials

"ICLEI [USA] has proven to be a highly skilled and thoughtful partner in our sustainability initiatives. They peer reviewed our draft climate action plan, and were instrumental in the assessment and refinement of our circularity initiatives. Their numerous tools and partner resources, ranging from greenhouse gas emissions inventory tools, to policy guidelines to urban tree canopy data has proven invaluable in our efforts."

Andrew Mentzer, Sustainability Manager, Blaine County, ID

“Participating in the ICLEI USA 2024 Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment cohort was a very beneficial and worthwhile experience. As I am preparing to begin the process of developing a Climate Vulnerability Assessment and Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan for my County, the information and tools shared within this cohort by ICLEI staff, guest speakers, and my fellow participants will be tremendously useful. I look forward to continuing to engage with ICLEI in a variety of topic areas relating to my work in sustainability and climate change.”

Madison Quinn, Sustainability Coordinator Monroe County, NY

"ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability is the oldest and most effective nonprofit working on climate issues with local governments. They are the leading group that helps local governments create a baseline greenhouse gas inventory (GHGI), which becomes the road map for reducing GHG emissions. They also are one of the most active groups assisting local governments to develop and implement climate action plans, making communities more resilient. And they do this work at a surprisingly low cost. They are my ‘go to’ group for everything climate-related."

Brigid Shea, Travis County Commissioner, Precinct 2, Texas

"I love the [Land Emissions And Removals Navigator] tool! I found it so easy to use. It’s perfect for a group of volunteers like us who really want to include carbon sequestration information but don’t have the time or money to do a complex analysis. So thank you from Chebeague!"

Julia Maine, Climate Action Team Member, Chebeague Island, Maine

"Every community should undertake a climate vulnerability assessment and we feel privileged to have ICLEI's support as we launch ours. The assessment will help us plan for changing future conditions. It will also help us make investments now that will ensure the resiliency of our community after we are long gone.  Climate adaptation is not a choice—it is a duty!"

Nicola Armacost
Mayor, Village of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY

“It’s a huge challenge to coordinate a regional climate action plan. Each jurisdiction has different goals and priorities, and we’ve had to make a lot of adjustments throughout the process. ICLEI and SEEC have a lot of great resources. I relied a lot on the protocols and ClearPath guides."

Connor McGuigan
Planner, Humboldt County, CA

“Our ICLEI memberships have paid dividends far greater than the modest fees required. Beyond the rich library of research and tools to advance climate action, and the networking opportunities with like-minded counterparts in other municipalities; the technical assistance and expert guidance that we received from ICLEI allowed us to leverage internal resources to develop our first GHG inventories under the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories. With our baseline inventories archived in ClearPath, we are now using it to crunch our data and identify the most impactful strategies to reduce and eliminate carbon emissions. I look forward to increasing our utilization of ICLEI’s expanding capabilities.”

Rocky Mould
Energy Program Manager, Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency, City and County of Honolulu, HI

“ICLEI membership provides tools for future research, data collection and planning activities. ICLEI’s resources are widely used as the standard for collecting greenhouse gas emissions data and [ClearPath is] a tool that both Clallam County and Jefferson County have used.”

Ken Dubuc
Fire Chief, City of Port Angeles, WA

"ICLEI has been a strong partner for the City of Monterey as we work to finalize our Climate Action Plan and implement a wide-ranging suite of measures at the government and community level to reduce our carbon footprint."

Ted J. Terrasas
REHS - Sustainability Coordinator, Monterey, CA
