Letter from Our Executive Director

It’s been another busy year in the ICLEI network. In 2023, ICLEI USA doubled the size of our team, saw our 5th consecutive year of increase in ICLEI membership, increased our fee-for-service work with a big uptake in regional greenhouse gas analysis, resilience, and our first “circular” service contract.

We hosted the first in-person membership meeting in more than a decade, developed a strategic partnership with the U.S. State Department through Cities Forward, and influenced successful COP28 outcomes that institutionalized local governments and youth in the Paris process.

Internally, we developed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee and began the process of defining what DEI means to us and how we can better enable our members to build equitable communities.
