Integrating Nature into Climate Planning Cohort II

This capacity-building cohort facilitates the integration of nature into climate action planning via the ICLEI 2025-2026 Action Agenda for Nature framework for local governments to address biodiversity.

ICLEI USA will provide participants with:

  • Live, 1-hour web-based sessions monthly for four months
  • Direct technical assistance on pre and post-session tasks related to each Action Agenda for Nature priority area
  • Peer exchange and learning, including guest speakers from local governments and organizations actively working under each Action Agenda for Nature’s priority area
  • Support navigating ICLEI USA’s Member Resources – Nature-Based Pathway

There is no additional cost to participate. The cohort offers 8 hours of group instruction, 10 hours of direct technical support, access to our tools and peer network, and recognition.

Who Will Participate

Up to 25 ICLEI USA members will participate.

Effort Level

Participants will attend live virtual training sessions. They will also have the option of completing pre and post-session capacity-building tasks and reviewing provided resources between sessions.

Session 2: Priority 1: Increase the adoption of Local Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (LBSAP) or integration of biodiversity elements in Climate Action Plans (CAP)

Session 3: Priority 2: Foster inter-department collaboration and mainstream biodiversity among leadership

Session 4: Priority 3: Utilize network and public-facing resources to advance biodiversity

Session 5: Priority 4: Ensure equitable capacity for nature

Session 6: Priority 5: Engage and activate community and stakeholder voices to generate and maintain support for biodiversity action

Session 7: Priority 6: Ensure avenues to data to create an informed decision-making process

Session 8: Priority 7: Track biodiversity efforts and report progress
