City of Key West

The City of Key West is seeking an Adaptation and Energy Coordinator to support the creation and implementation the City’s Adaptation Plan and Energy Plan.  This job’s mission is to coordinate the collaboration needed between departments and the public to A) Create each section of the Adaptation Plan while tracking deliverables and timetables for the two grants that fund it, and B) Finalize the Energy Plan and manage energy efficiency and alternative energy projects for the City.  Successful performance requires strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong partnerships with community stakeholders, other City departments, and public agencies.  The position will work strategically from the Engineering Department while collaborating with the Planning, Building, Risk, Emergency Management, Code, and Legal departments.

Qualifications

Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis on Planning or Environmental Sciences or in a closely related field such as Architecture, Engineering, Public Administration, or Sustainability. Two years of relevant experience in climate change planning, resilience and sustainability project management, energy efficiencies and alternative energy, grant management, outreach, event organizing, or equivalent experience and training provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Familiarity with coastal adaptation, local government processes, FEMA flood maps, sea level rise predictions, energy efficiencies, and alternative energy. Possession of, or shall obtain within one month of hire, a Florida driver’s license. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Planning. Five years of relevant experience.

Special Requirements

Shall have excellent project management skills, are detail-oriented and highly organized, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must have strong interpersonal and oral, and written communication skills. Skill in facilitation, mediation, and leadership Must be able to deal courteously and effectively with the public. Possess critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
