The City of Albany updated its Climate Action Plan (CAP) and used updated greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to guide data-driven decision-making. These inventories helped prioritize strategies from existing plans, such as the Complete Streets and Bike & Pedestrian Plan, ensuring a cohesive approach to reducing emissions.
Albany partnered with ICLEI USA to develop community-wide and local government operations GHG inventories using ClearPath software, where previous inventories were stored. The community-wide inventory followed the U.S. Community Protocol, while the local government operations inventory aligned with the LGO Protocol.
With updated GHG inventories, Albany tracked emissions trends, compared current data to past inventories, and identified key sectors for targeted climate action. These insights shaped the CAP, ensuring the City adopted the most effective strategies to reduce emissions and advance sustainability goals.
