Race to Zero Regional Cohorts

In 2021, ICLEI USA worked with ICLEI Members to develop 2030 science based targets (SBTs) and high impact action (HIA) scenarios to help reach these targets. This year, ICLEI USA will host regional cohorts to support implementation of the HIA scenarios. These cohorts will consist of five sessions with facilitation by ICLEI staff and subject matter experts, and will provide the opportunity to identify and share best practices for policy instruments and funding mechanisms for communities to reach their SBTs.

At the conclusion of the program, participants will have created a policy prioritization matrix to serve as a roadmap for reaching their 2030 SBTs in the areas of renewable energy supply, buildings, transportation, and integrating equity into climate action planning. The cohorts will be regional-specific, taking into account the barriers and opportunities that make each state unique. Specifically, the regions are:

  • Pacific (CA, WA, OR, and HI)
  • Regulated West (Remaining western states not listed in the Pacific region and tend to not have an ISO or wholesale market)
  • Midwest
  • Northeast & Mid-Atlantic
  • Southeast (*Offered in 2023- register to receive updates)

Cohorts will occur every two weeks from July 2022 to December 2022 with recorded sessions and resources that will be made available to all attendees.
