South Bend, IN needed an updated community-wide greenhouse gas inventory (GHGI) to track its progress toward its 2050 net-zero emissions target and establish interim 2030 goals.
ICLEI USA utilized ClearPath software to develop a 2023 GHGI for South Bend, following the U.S. Community Protocol. This inventory included a business-as-usual forecast and science-based targets for 2030, as well as a narrative report and slide deck to communicate the results.
The 2023 GHGI allows South Bend to track its progress toward net-zero emissions by 2050, provides updated data to inform its climate action plan, and helps establish clear emissions reduction targets for 2030.
