Session 2: Localizing Biodiversity Action under the CBD
ICLEI Cities Biodiversity Center is launching a new webinar series to support local and subnational governments in engaging with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) ahead of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17).
Building on momentum from recent global convenings, this series focuses on how CBD processes work, how negotiations unfold, and how local governments can participate effectively. Each session provides practical guidance to help turn global biodiversity goals into local action.

This session explores how the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) translates global ambition into implementation through the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs).
Participants will learn about key CBD decisions relevant to local and subnational governments, including Decision 15/12 and its Plan of Action. The session will also highlight current initiatives supporting local biodiversity action and how platforms like CitiesWithNature and RegionsWithNature contribute to tracking progress and informing the global review of implementation.
