MIF Geothermal Cohort: Policy, Finance, and Project Development
Join the ICLEI USA team for a facilitated peer learning program focused on accelerating geothermal deployment across policy, finance, and project development pathways. Designed for participants working in energy, public sector, and project development roles, this cohort provides practical tools to support near-term geothermal deployment in real market contexts. Participation is open to the public. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of geothermal technologies, enabling policy conditions, financial structures, and actionable steps to advance projects from concept to implementation.
This cohort includes three live 90-minute virtual sessions featuring presentations, group discussion, and interactive activities: —
- Wednesday, June 17 at 3:30-5PM ET Session 1: Geothermal Fundamentals and Starter Guide Review Overview of the draft geothermal starter guide and key geothermal technologies, including resource types and deployment pathways.
- Wednesday, July 1 at 3:30-5PM ET Session 2: Enabling Geothermal Policy Frameworks Exploration of policy mechanisms that support geothermal development, including regulatory considerations and market enabling conditions.
- Wednesday, July 15 at 3:30-5PM ET Session 3: Financing Geothermal Projects: Costs and Structures Breakdown of geothermal project cost components, financing approaches, and public-private partnership (PPP) structures. Please come prepared to actively engage!
Note: Participants should register for all three sessions, as they are designed as a sequence. Attendance across the full series is strongly encouraged.
