From Commitment to Impact: ICLEI USA’s Vision for the Next Five Years

November 19, 2026 | Virtual Webinar

What does it take to turn climate and sustainability commitments into funded projects and lasting results for communities?

Join ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability USA (ICLEI USA) for the public launch of our 2027–2031 Strategic Plan, From Commitment to Impact. Building on 35 years of working alongside U.S. local governments, we’re sharing our vision for the next five years and how we’ll evolve to meet the changing needs of communities.

Local governments are navigating growing demands, limited resources, and shifting funding landscapes. Our new strategic plan responds to these challenges by focusing on practical support that helps communities move projects forward and make sustainability part of everyday government operations.

During this webinar, we’ll explore three priorities guiding our work through 2031:

• Move from planning to implementation. Help communities prepare projects for financing and delivery through technical assistance, peer learning, and practical tools.
• Bring sustainability into everyday government decisions. Support local leaders and staff in integrating sustainability into budgets, capital planning, procurement, and core services.
• Expand support through trusted networks. Strengthen partnerships that help us reach more local governments, including small and rural communities and Tribal nations.

We’ll discuss what these priorities mean for ICLEI USA members, partners, and communities at different stages of their sustainability journeys, with time for questions and conversation about the work ahead.

Whether your community is developing its first emissions inventory, preparing a project for investment, or expanding an established sustainability program, we invite you to join us.

Every community starts somewhere. Our next chapter is about helping each one take the next step.
