Salt Lake City’s metropolitan area participated in the EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program to meet climate action plan requirements and qualify for federal implementation funding. To support this effort, ICLEI USA provided technical assistance to local governments in the region.
ICLEI USA assisted with greenhouse gas inventorying and emissions reduction projections, ensuring that the municipal statistical area met the EPA’s CPRG requirements. This work supported local governments in developing data-driven implementation plans for emissions mitigation.
By completing these requirements, Salt Lake City and surrounding communities positioned themselves for future CPRG implementation funding. The project provided local governments with the technical tools needed to advance climate action, plan emissions reductions, and secure resources for sustainable development.
