City of Tallahassee Seeks Chief Resilience Officer

This is highly responsible professional work developing, coordinating and administering the resiliency activities for the City of Tallahassee.  Acts as the lead for establishing a resilience vision supported by an actionable strategy.  Drives the resilience conversation with internal and external partners, building and implementing effective resilience strategies with City government and with external stakeholders to deliver key initiatives.  Work is performed with considerable independence and latitude and is subject to general supervision of the Fire Chief.

Identifies, assesses and analyzes the greatest threats to the City of Tallahassee’s resilience.  Creates and develops a cohesive resilience strategy.  Manages the resilience strategy overseeing the preparation and implementation of effective high-priority resilience initiatives to address urban, regional, sustainability, transportation and economic resiliency challenges faced by the City and its residents.  Ensures that the resilience strategy has a clearly defined direction, with specific outcomes and metrics.  Provides policy and planning advice on resilience concepts and priorities in response to emerging trends and impacts.

Minimum Training and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, public safety, political science, economics, emergency management, sustainability, urban or regional planning or related field and 8 years of experience in strategic planning and operations, public policy, urban planning, economic or community development or direct resiliency experience.

Necessary Special Requirement

Must possess a valid Class E State driver’s license at the time of appointment
