Kale Roberts

Kale joined the ICLEI USA team in 2016 and provides technical assistance to ICLEI members on greenhouse gas emission inventories, sustainability planning and climate adaptation efforts, in addition to highlighting member and partner successes as part of the communication team.

Before joining ICLEI USA, Kale worked with the United Nations Development Programme’s Climate Change Adaptation Team from the Bangkok Regional Hub. He supported countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region to develop proposals aimed at unlocking climate finance for adaptation projects. Kale also is a former editor of Mother Earth News, North America’s largest sustainable living magazine, where he coordinated climate and energy content. From 2010-2012, he served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in rural Thailand, where he worked on a project with the Thai Ministry of Energy to build home-scale biogas digesters and initiate carbon accounting in community forests. Kale received an M.S. in Climate Science and Policy from the Bard Center for Environmental Policy and a B.S. in Environmental Science from Humboldt State University.
