2016 GHG Inventory Fall Session

A structured technical assistance program to guide local governments through the steps of creating a GPC-compliant GHG inventory in real time
More than 125 cities and counties in the US are committed to the Compact of Mayors, the preeminent global campaign of local governments acting on climate change. In the coming months, ICLEI USA will hold a “Fall Session” for local governments seeking to prepare GHG inventories to meet their year-one Compact commitments. In this structured, 15-week program, ICLEI will walk up to 20 cities through the process of creating a GPC Compliant community-scale GHG inventory. Program participants will have exclusive access to the following resources:
- Live, web-based trainings
- Dedicated office hours for direct support
- Peer exchange and learning
- New tools and resources to facilitate the inventory process.
Trainings will be paced so that most cities can complete the inventory work as they follow along, while recorded trainings and resources will be made available to all.
Fall Session materials will support participants in developing GHG inventories that are compliant with both the Global Protocol for Community-scale GHG Emissions Inventories (GPC) and the US Community Protocol for Community-Scale Emissions (USCP), using ICLEI’s ClearPath online software platform for GHG emissions management. ICLEI will verify the GPC compliance of the inventories completed by the end of the session, and support participants in Compact of Mayors reporting via the ClearPath to carbonn Climate Registry API or offline reporting to the Carbon Disclosure Project.
The 2016 GHG Inventory Fall Session runs from September 12th-December 16th. Applications are due by Friday, July 1st. Any US city, county, or regional planning agency is eligible to participate. Participants accepted into the program will demonstrate their capacity to complete the GHG inventory this summer – city staff or consultants should be available to carry out the bulk of the inventory work – and also demonstrate their commitment to climate action.
