This free workshop,sponsored and hosted by the Local Government Commission, is open to the public as well as New Partners conference attendees. This event will complement placemaking and tactical-urbanism demonstrations and local youth empowerment activities. No need to register – just show up at least 30 minutes early to get checked-in and get your seat!
Workshop leaders include local and national placemaking and smart-growth experts, as well as community leaders showcasing exciting projects from the St.Louis area. Creative placemaking and “tactical urbanism”projects are sweeping St.Louis and the nation,helping cities and neighborhoods to make high-impact improvements to address a variety of challenges.
This half-day workshop will give you the tools and ideas to spark a DIY community resurgence. Join us to learn how community art,pop-up design, crowdfunding, youth engagement and other elements can help you quickly identify local challenges and implement innovative solutions that aren’t expensive yet can have a big impact.
