On the heels of the historic U.S. China Climate Leaders Summit ICLEI USA and ICLEI East Asia China office gathered with leading experts from China and California to launch the California-China Urban Climate Collaborative (CCUCC) at an event in Los Angeles.
In support of cities meeting their Compact of Mayors’ commitments to local climate action and thanks to a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies, starting today the community-scale Inventory Module of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability’s ClearPath is open to any US city, county, or regional government for free.
In a fact sheet released today by the White House, President Obama challenged all Mayors to publicly commit to a climate action plan ahead of the Paris UN meeting, and has set a goal of having at least 100 US cities that have signed onto the Compact of Mayors by the end of November.
The EPA Clean Power Plan final rule, announced this week, includes a proposed early credit program for energy efficiency savings achieved in 2020 and 2021 in low-income communities. Through ICLEI’s Unite2Green program, young people in low-income communities are trained to deliver energy efficiency education to members of their community.
